Parents and residents of the 72nd community in Paynesville are still grieving in shock after a four-year-old boy collapsed suddenly and died from swallowing a piece of boiled egg in the community.

Four years Samuel Kpan, Jr., has reportedly died under mysterious circumstances after he allegedly swallowed a boiled egg in 72^nd Community, Paynesville.

But the report says an unidentified woman believed to be in her 20s had jokingly taken a bite of the egg earlier and returned it to the child, who swallowed the remaining piece and collapsed later.

The sad incident occurred late Sunday evening, August 11, 2024, according to father of the deceased, Mr. Samuel Kpan, Sr, who made the disclosure to the NEW DAWN on Monday, August 12, 2024.

Residents of the 72^nd Military Barracks football field community in Paynesville were in shock late Sunday when the death news of the child hit the community in disbelief.

Narrating in tears, Mr. Samuel Kpan Sr. said at barely 10 pm Sunday, he received a call from a strange number, informing him that his son had shockingly died, which he heard in disbelief.

According to him, upon his arrival at the home of the child’s mother, identified as Princess Cooper, it was confirmed that his son had died minutes after feasting on an egg bought by his mother.

Mr. Kpan narrates that on Sunday afternoon, he went to his son’s mother, as usual, to check on the child and spent some time with him while they both played football. later, bought him ICE CREAM, after which he left only to receive a call the same day during evening hours that the child had died.

“I usually come to see my son, so it was Sunday. I came to his mother’s place, and he said, “Papa” let’s go play football, and so after playing football, ” he said he wanted to eat ICE CREAM. I took him to the ICE CREAM shop, bought him, 500 LD ICE CREAM, after then we both returned home and I left him with his mother and went to my friend place behind ONACE Christian International School, across the road. It was when I received a call from a strange number, who told me my son is dead,” he details in sorrow.

Mr. Kpan: “When I came to the house, I only met my son lying down flat on the ground; couldn’t see his mother, and when I asked, they said little Samuel and his mother went on the road when he requested for egg, and she bought him an egg, when she peeled and gave it to him. After his first bite, a girl believed to be in her early 20s, only identified as Fatu, jerked the egg from him and took some; the remaining one he swallowed and died.”

Eyewitnesses confirmed that the deceased’s mother bought an egg in their presence, but moments later, Fatu, who normally jokes with Little Samuel, jerked the egg, took a piece, and gave the remaining one back to the child, which the toddler swallowed and collapsed, minutes later.

They said, apparently, the yoke of the egg might have strangulated the boy, resulting in his sudden death, while other sources blamed it on witchcraft activities in the community.

However, there has been no official comment from the Jacob Town detachment Zone 9 Depot Police Station in Paynesville regarding the situation, as Suspect Fatu, who came in contact with the baby before his death, is being held by the Police for questioning.
