The FOCAC summit aims to celebrate China-Africa friendship, explore cooperation, and chart the course for the future.

Monrovia, August 27, 2024: The People’s Republic of China, through its Embassy near Monrovia, has outlined dozens of impactful achievements and advancements in the China-Africa Cooperation relationship as African countries prepare for the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).

The Chinese Embassy issued a press release announcing that it has invited the Government and People of Liberia to participate in the upcoming FOCAC.

The 2024 FOCAC summit will be held in Beijing, China, from September 4 to 6, 2014.

This year’s summit is themed “Joining Hands to Advance Modernization and Build a High-Level China-Africa.”

In a statement dated July 30, 2024, the Chinese government said the upcoming summit will be the fourth time that the FOCAC meeting has been held as a summit.

Given the summit’s importance, the release further indicated that it aims to celebrate China-Africa friendship, explore cooperation, and chart a course for the future.

According to China Global Television Network (CGTN) and China State Council Information Office Forum, the sustainable advancement of China-Africa cooperation and people-to-people exchanges promotes mutual sharing and strengthens understanding and friendship between the two sides.

“In 2021, the Eighth Ministerial Conference of the FOCAC (Forum on China–Africa Cooperation) was held successfully,” the release said.

“At the opening ceremony, Chinese President Xi Jinping announced that China and Africa had jointly prepared the China-Africa Cooperation Vision 2035.”

China’s Assistant Minister of Commerce Tang Wenhong said that under the first three-year plan of this Vision, China will work closely with African countries to implement the nine programs.

At a press conference, Tang detailed the progress and achievements under the nine cooperation programs China announced during FOCAC’s Eighth Ministerial Conference in Senegal three years ago.

At the 2024 FOCAC Summit, China and Africa will renew their friendship and discuss ways to promote cooperation.

“For this occasion, we’re looking at some highlights of China-Africa cooperation in health and wellness, capacity building and cultural exchanges, as well as key related programs within the nine programs for Africa,” the release stated.

Regarding the Health and Wellness corporation between China and Africa, the release indicated that 25 medical and health programs have been implemented across Africa.

The release said the implementation of the health programs included the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Bobo-Dioulasso University Hospital in Burkina Faso.

Two hundred forty million vaccine doses have been provided, covering all African countries in need.

Additionally, the release disclosed that 20 education cooperation programs have been implemented, including at the diplomatic training academy in Sierra Leone, Bamako University in Mali, and primary schools in Botswana.

“Over 12,000 African talents trained. Nearly 100 master’s and doctoral graduates from the Institute of South-South Cooperation and Development,” the release continued.
