On 30 May, the Inaugual International Day of Potato Celebration along with CCCAP’s Open Day Event were successfully held in Yanqing, Beijing China. Over 200 representatives from international organizations, research institutes, government departments, social groups and private enterprises attended the event. At the opening session, Simon Heck, Director General of the International Potato Center (CIP) , Huang Sanwen, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), President of the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences (CATAS) and Research Fellow of Agricultural Genomics Institute at Shenzhen (AGIS) of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences , Cao Kaifeng, Director of the Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the Yanqing District of Beijing, and Erika Lizardo, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of the Republic of Peru in China, Zhang Zhongjun, Officer-in-charge, FAO Representation in China, Zhao Bing, Representative and Country Director, World Food Program (WFP) China, Zhu Honghai, Consular Director General, Comprehensive Department of the China International Development Cooperation Agency, Jin Liping, chief scientist of China Agricultural Research System-potato , and Li Qiang, chief scientist of China Agricultural Research System-sweetpotato, and other distinguished guests delivered their opening addresses.

The event brought together a number of top experts in the potato field at home and abroad, who shared and discussed topics such as the cultivation and utilization of potato germplasm resources, industrial development and AI innovation practices.
