Ganta, Liberia, May 30, 2024 – The Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA) busts three business owners in Ganta, Nimba County, with huge quantities of drugs. The business owners are facing investigation for allegedly trading substances at their business facilities.

Those arrested include 39-year-old Suspect Norah Garteh, in possession of 382 kgs of marijuana that has a street value of 76,400 Liberian Dollars; Suspect Lisa Dennis, age 44, with 69,840 Liberia Dollars’ worth of marijuana, and 22-year-old Suspect Randell Bartuah, with nine boxes and six strips of Tramadol valued 225,000 Liberian Dollars, among others.

The new LDEA commander for Nimba, Abraham Payne, says his mission is to make Ganta, towns, villages, and the entire county drug-free.

He vows to work with citizens, including local authorities, to combat drugs in Nimba, which is situated between the borders of Guinea and the Ivory Coast.

However, Commander Payne laments that the detachment lacks the vehicle to patrol the county and effectively appeals to the national government.

The three suspects are currently being interrogated by the LDEA detachment in Nimba.

Commander Payne rallies the people of Nimba to collaborate with him in clearing the country of drugs.

“The government of Ambassador Joseph Boakai and the order from my Boss Abraham Korma is to make Liberia a drug-free nation, and as such, my mission in Nimba County as Commander is to implement such mandate,” he says.

He reiterates the call to Nimbaians to open their doors to him so they all can work together, including the media, to achieve the mission.

Meanwhile, Commander Payne discloses their plan to relocate his office from Ganta to Sanniquellie. Editing by Jonathan Browne
