This CGIAR side event at the 2021 World Food Prize will highlight the role of research and innovation in achieving sustainable and resilient food systems. The panel will highlight how the CGIAR’s portfolio of new initiatives can help transform food systems and will explore research and innovation priorities across different regions and sectors.

Key points for discussion will include…

  • How have partnerships been effective tools for countries to respond to challenges related to food security, nutrition, agriculture, and other food systems issues? What role has research played in these partnerships?
  • How can research organizations and other stakeholders support country efforts to transform their food systems
  • How can demand for healthy, sustainable diets be supported? What are the existing barriers to achieving this, and what tools are needed to overcome those barriers?
  • What resources are necessary to identify, develop and scale up innovations to meet our food system challenges?
